GMC Jammu to start eight paramedical Courses

JAMMU: 

Government Medical College Jammu today secured NOC /Affiliation from University of Jammu for starting Eight Degree Courses in various Paramedical Branches with intake capacity of 110 seats.

The degree courses will include B.Sc in Medical Lab Technology, B.Sc Operation Theatre Technology, B.Sc Renal Dialysis Technology, B.Sc Radiography Technology, B.Sc Anesthesia Technology, B.Sc Cardiac Care Technology, B.Sc Respiratory Care Technology and B.Sc Neuroscience Technology. The proposal for starting these courses was submitted by J&K Paramedical Council to the Administrative Department, and the State Administrative Council approved the proposal in the month of October 2019.

Principal GMC Jammu and President Paramedical Council Dr Sunanda Raina congratulated the team of J&K Paramedical Council for the achievement. She said that these courses are being started for the first time and earlier the students had to travel outside the state to pursue these courses. She said that there won’t be any additional financial implications as all these courses shall he conducted in various Departments of GMC Jammu with existing faculty. On the contrary the students shall pay fees for the courses to GMC.

Registrar J&K Paramedical Council Dr Sandeep Singh stated that, on the directions of Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education, the process of seeking permissions for starting of these courses in six other Medical Colleges namely GMC Srinagar, GMC Anantnag, GMC Baramulla, GMC Kathua, GMC Rajouri and GMC Doda is going on, and altogether around 600 candidates would be accommodated every year. Controller Examinations J&K Paramedical Council Dr A S Bhatia stated that admission to these courses shall be purely based on merit and conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE).
