Kupwara, Nov 22, TEN Network | As a peace gesture authorities of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have reunited a mentally unsound person with its family members based in Pakistan on Thursday after a thorough investigation and procedure who was apprehended by Army’s 17 Bihar regiment based in Tangdhar Kupwara in northern belt of Kashmir along the line of control in the month of May this years.
Officials told that a proper procedure was followed following an examination of the man for reunion was done identified as, Shabir Ahmad, a Pakistani resident who had entered into this side of border few months back was held alive by Army and then handed over to police for more investigation into the mature and intentions of the persons entrance.
Accordingly an FIR 18/2019 U/S Egress and internal movement (control) ordinance was registered against the person following which he was presented before a court in Tangdhar and remand was availed to conduct proper investigation under the supervisions of law later the person was shifted to Kupwara for more investigation, where he was questioned, as part of the procedure he was presented before a medical team to verify about his health conditions, the official said.
The official further said that, upon reaching a logical conclusion of the investigation it was felt that the person isn’t mentally stable more checkups relating the same were carried after which it was declared by special medical team that the apprehended person is mentally unsound.
Talking to The Earth News, Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar Dinkar said that, With timely intervention of Government of India, agencies based in Pakistan were communicated about the same who as per norms came to have him last afternoon along the LoC in presence of their Army and civil officials, while as per the guidelines concerned SHO, SDM Army Officials and Naib Tehsildar stationed in Tangdhar were present at the spot.
Ambarkar said that, He was handed over to the officials based in pakistan near the fence at Teethwal Tangdhar on Thursday late afternoon.
As a peace gesture Shabir Ahmad on humanitarian grounds he was reunited with his family members based in Pakistan after a thorough logical conclusion, Ambrkar said.
Meanwhile Shabir Ahmad appeared in a video in which he is heard praising Indian Army saying that since my detention i was rendered very kind treatment i was served good food and now i am returning back.
