Srinagar, Nov 14, TEN Network | A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) fitted in a pressure cooker was recovered and later diffused near Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI) Pampore on old Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
Talking to wire service—CRPF spokesman in Srinagar Pankaj Singh confirmed that the IED was recovered by the security forces personnel outside EDI. “It was a two kg powerful IED planted in a pressure cooker. Alert forces spotted it and recovered the same,” he said.
Confirming the development, Superintendent of Police (SP) Awantipore Tahir Saleem said the IED was recovered near IED on a roadside that leads towards Srinagar. “The IED was recovered and diffused later,” he said.
Meanwhile, locals said that the traffic was halted on the road stretch from Pampore to Sempora for nearly two hours while as security forces including army, CRPF and the police “professionally diffused the IED.” (KNO)
