Back to Village’ Day 3: Host of interactive sessions, awareness camp held in North Kashmir

SRINAGAR, JUNE 22:

Under the phase-second of the ongoing ‘Back to Village’ public outreach programme, a number of Gram Sabhas, and awareness camps were held across the North Kashmir districts to assess the development needs of people and take their feedback for socio-economic transformation of rural areas.

In Kupwara, the outreach programme reached 128 Panchayat Halqas of the district where several public utilities were dedicated to the people.

Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg visited several Panchayat Halqas where he laid stress on formation of Social Audit Committees to improve deliverance of public services to the people.

The DC visited several panchayat halqas including Zirhama Check-B, Bohipora and other far-flung halqas of the district.

During the interaction, the panchayat members, deputations and senior citizens flagged various demands like compensation to hailstorm affected farmers, adequate power supply, resumption of languishing projects, augmentation of rural healthcare system, proper road connectivity, initiatives for water and forest conservation, opening of bank units and other related issues.

SDM Karnah, Dr. Ilyas Ahmad, dedicated several utilities including roads, bridges, culverts, Panchayat Ghars to the public and asked the officers to inform the panchayat members about the importance of social audit system and to encourage participation of stakeholders in this process.

Other visiting officers also held interactive session during which people were informed of various welfare schemes of the government.

In Baramulla, on the third day of the programme, awareness camps and Gram Sabhas were held in various Panchayat halqas of the district which saw enthusiastic participation of locals.

On the occasion, various development works were started and interactive programmes were held by visiting officers to listen to issues and problems faced by the people. They also documented their demands and aspirations for further course of action.

In Nadihal Block, public interactions were done at various Panchayat halqas including Achabal A, Dobgah B, Nadihal B, Venkari, Budmulla, Bonner A and Bonner B.

The interactions at Logripora and Yembarzalwari at Tujjer Sharief Block also witnessed huge participation of people.

At Dobgah B in Nadihal Block, under the programme, foundation for the construction of water filtration plant was laid.

Government Higher Secondary School Dobigah B organized a cleanliness drive in which students and staff member of the school participated. A volleyball match for boys was also organized under the ‘Back to village’ programme.

Speaking on the occasion, BDO Nadihal said that through the novel initiative of the government people have got a platform where they can put forward their problems and issues faced in their respective areas.

The interaction programmes were also held in other areas of North Kashmir areas during which the visiting officers documented the demands and issues of the general public and informed the people of various welfare schemes of the government.
