Route survey completed, 420 KMs notified for acquisition: GoI.
EARTH NEWS SERVICE| New Delhi, Dec 07 |15: The Government of India today said the route survey and Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) has been completed for laying BhatindaJammu-Srinagar gas pipeline. In a written reply to a question regarding the status of the Bhatinda-Jammu-Srinagar gas pipeline project, raised by Member Parliament, Ms Mehbooba Mufti in the Lok Sabha, the Union Petroleum Minister has stated that out of 720 KMs of ground to be covered by the gas pipeline, 460 KMs have been notified under Section 3(1) of P&MP Act for acquisition of Right of Use (RoU). The Petroleum Minister said that the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) had, on 07-07-2011, authorized Gujarat State Petronent Ltd (GSPL), a subsidiary of Gujarat Government, to lay BhatindaJammu-Srinagar gas pipeline to ensure supply of natural gas for industrial, commercial and domestic use in Jammu and Kashmir. Subsequently, he said, the PNGRB transferred the authorization for laying the pipeline in favour of GSPL India Gasnet Ltd (GIGL), a consortium comprising GSPL, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The Minister said that the consortium has been given 36 months, from the date of issue of authorization, for the commissioning of the Bhatinda-JammuSrinagar gas pipeline. The gas pipeline will consist of main gas trunk from Bhatinda to Srinagar passing through Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur, Ramban, Anantnag, Pulwama and Srinagar.
