Jammu, Sept 3: A protest Dharna was organized by welfare association Ward No 73 on date 03/09/2018 under the leadership of Sardar Aya Singh, Ex Sarpanch and president of Gurudwara Upper Gadi Garh , Bhour Ward no 1 and 2 Gadi Garh Rakh, people gathered at Karan Bagh Chowk and held protest demonstration, condemning the polices of the ruling class.
The Ex Sarpanch stated that ward no 73 Comprising Upper Gadi Garh, Bhour Ward No 1 to 2 and Gadi Garh Rakh Was included within the limits of Jammu Municipal corporation (JMC) and the said ward has been reserved for Schedule Caste category in sheer violation of & without adhering to the provisions section 10 A of Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2002. As per Section 10 A of the Act, Seats for SC’s shall be reserved in proportion to their population. However, ward no 73 has been reserved for SC category while ignoring the fact that General Category comprises more than 90% of the population of the area. He further asserted that how the target of ‘Greater Participation for a stronger Democracy’ can be achieved, when majority population is restrained from contesting the Election?.
He alleged that the Government is indirectly closing the doors of participations for majority of the population.
Ex Sarpanch Aya Singh along with the people of area appeal to the concerned authorities to reconsider the decision of placing the ward no 73 as reserved for SC Category or else, they shall be constrained to continue the ongoing protest till the redressal of their grievance.
Raising slogans, the protestors warned to intensify the agitation in case their demands, were not conceded immediately by the government.
Along with Ex Sarpanch S. Aya Singh, others who addressed the protest demonstrations were Vijay Sharma, Ex Sarpanch, Harbans Singh Panch, Manjeet Kour Panch, S. Amrik Naib Sarpanch, Swaran Kour Panch, , Lalit Kumar Sharma Social Worker, Amrik Singh Advocate, Gurjeet Singh kala, Pars Ram Chairman, Avtar Singh Shanty, Rasver Singh Pappu, Gurdev Singh Bhola, Ranjeet Kour Pinky, Ashraf Ali, Social Worker , Teja Singh Vikas Sharma, Kulbir Singh President, Sewa Singh, Pawan kumar pummy, Dawarka Nath, Janak Singh, Ikjot Singh, Zorawar Singh, Satwantr Singh , Karamvir Singh
