Jammu, September 2nd: Son of Soil and noted Urdu poet of State, Dr. Liaqat Jafri is going to represent Jammu and Kashmir in Dubai ,UAE in an International Urdu Mushaira/Kavi Sammelan titled “Jashn e Urdu” On 6th of Sept 2018. Earlier also in January on Invitation Of Indian Embassy, Liaqat participated in series of International Urdu Mushairas held in Doha Qattar, Riyadh, Jaddah, Dammam, Jubail and Sharjah.
Author of half a dozen books in Urdu Dr. Jafri is a reputed editor of few Urdu Magazines also. Hailing from Poonch, a city renowned for its outstanding contribution in Arts and Literature, an area already famous for writings of Krishan Chandar, Charagh Hasan Hasrat and Thakur Poonchi etc, Liaqat is an acclaimed Urdu poet of modern sensibility and techniques his stage performances are appreciated across India.
Recipient of national awards for his outstanding contributions in the field of poetry, prose, theatre, journalism, film and Urdu activism, Liaqat Jafri is a noted Critic/Reviewer Teacher and Research Scholar.
He was convener of State-Level Committee for the promotion of Urdu Language in J&K for more than 5 years which was constituted by Government of Jammu and Kashmir in 2011-12.
Presently, Dr Jafri is working In Higher Education Department and posted in Urdu Dept of Govt College for Women’s , Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Dr. Liaqat has participated in more than 100 All India Urdu Mushairas held in different states of India.
Dr. Liaqat has regularly been sharing stage with top most Urdu/Hindi poets of India including Waseem Barelvi, Rahat Indori, Munawwar Rana, Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, Ashok Chakradhar, Kumar Vishwas and others.
His contributions have been widely recognized in Urdu literary fields beside Dr. Liaqat’s long association with Bollywood. He is writing lyrics for a number of upcoming film projects of reputed banners under including T-Series, Zee Music, Sony other key players of Industry.
Dr. Liaqat will be holding State high in Kuwait in month of October.
