KATHUA, AUGUST 29: To control vehicular pollution in the district, the Motor Vehicle Department, Kathua under the Supervision of RTO Kathua, Dr. Raj K. Thapa launched a pro-active pollution checking drive in the district.
The drive was started with the pollution checking centers operating in the district Kathua and checking of pollution certificate of vehicles plying in the district.
Further to enhance the compliance of various provision of Motor Vehicle Act, the Motor Vehicle Department launched a massive drive wherein, a total of 210 vehicles were checked and fine to the tune of Rs. 3,93,500 under various provision of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 like sections 66/192 A (contravention of Route Permit), 184 (dangerous driving), 177 (General Offences), 190(2) (Pollution and Pressure Horns), 125/177 (without seat belt), 129/177 (without helmet), was realized from the owners.
Penalty was imposed for offences like not wearing seat belt, without helmet, Pollution Under Control Certificates, using mobile phone while driving etc.
The team under the supervision of RTO, Kathua comprises of ARTO, Kuldeep Singh, Motor Vehicle Inspectors Vikas Srivastava, Kamal Kumar, Ravinder Kumar and other officials.
