PATHANKOT TERROR ATTACK

talkNew Delhi, Jan 14 | 16: India on Thursday welcomed Pakistan’s decision to send a special team to probe the Pathankot terror attack and said the foreign secretary-level talks will be rescheduled in “very near future”. “The two foreign secretaries have spoken and they have mutually decided to reschedule the talks,” external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said on Thursday. Foreign secretary S Jaishankar was scheduled to travel to Islamabad to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary on Friday, but both the countries announced to defer the talks with “mutual consent” to “very near future”. “The action against those responsible for Pathankot is still going on so the foreign secretaries must have thought to give some more time before going ahead with the meeting the MEA spokesman said. “The government welcomes the proposed visit of Pakistani probe team and Indian investigative agencies will provide it all possible help,” Vikas Swarup said.India also welcomed the action taken by Pakistan against Jaish-e-Mohammad as “important and first positive step” in the right direction. It also welcomed the statement issued by Pakistani PMO detailing the status of action taken against those responsible for Pathankot terror attack. “The two NSAs are in regular touch,” Vikas Swarup said when asked if the NSAs would meet before the meeting of the foreign secretaries. The MEA once again said that it has no confirmation on the arrest of Jaish chief Maulana Masood Azhar
