Kargil, Sept 20: In a significant push towards improving community health and nutrition, a mega camp was held in Village Tangole under the banner of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah campaign, organized by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Tai Suru. The camp, which focused on anemia testing, Aadhaar seeding, and nutrition awareness, saw a strong turnout from the local community, including children, parents, and villagers.

The event was inaugurated by Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Tai Suru, Parveen Akhtar, who emphasized the critical themes of the 7th phase of Poshan Maah. These include anemia prevention, growth monitoring, and enhanced service delivery through good governance and technology. Speaking at the inauguration, Akhtar highlighted the importance of this year’s theme, particularly the “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” initiative, which aims to integrate nutrition and education for the holistic development of children.

The camp provided a variety of essential services including; Anemia Testing – to ensure early detection and treatment, especially among children and vulnerable sections; Aadhaar Seeding – ensuring beneficiaries’ access to welfare schemes; Height and Weight Measurement – To monitor children’s growth and health; Nutrition Awareness – Anganwadi workers showcased locally available nutritious foods, emphasizing the benefits of local produce; and Hygiene and Cleanliness Campaign promoted the importance of health, hygiene, and cleanliness in preventing diseases.

Parveen Akhtar called on Anganwadi workers, helpers, and supervisors to ensure that government schemes reach the grassroots level, urging them to act as “agents of change” by delivering these services directly to the community’s doorstep. The event also stressed the need for supplementary nutrition, particularly for vulnerable groups, ensuring they receive adequate health support.

The camp marked an essential step in raising awareness about nutrition and health in the region, with robust participation and engagement from the local community. By addressing critical issues like anemia prevention, growth monitoring, and nutrition, the initiative aims to ensure the well-being of the region’s children and families.
