Jammu, Sept 15: In a vigorous campaign rally held in the RS Pura Jammu South constituency, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla criticized the BJP-led central government for its handling of economic and administrative issues. Addressing a series of election gatherings across various localities including Purana Pind, RS Pura, Kotli Shah Dulla, Railway Line Patri, Chib Mohalla, Kunjwani, and Chowdhi area, Bhalla voiced strong disapproval of the current administration’s policies and their impact on the region.

Bhalla accused the Modi government of promoting a politics of disorientation and false propaganda. He argued that the last decade under the BJP has subjected the people of Jammu and Kashmir to considerable suffering, exacerbated by unprecedented price hikes, record unemployment, and the government’s failure to deliver on its promises of development post-August 5, 2019.

Highlighting what he termed as a setback to the development initiatives previously started by the UPA government, Bhalla criticized the NDA government for not continuing these efforts. He alleged that the Modi administration’s economic mismanagement has resulted in “tax-terror” and rampant inflation, leading to widespread public unrest.

The Congress leader drew attention to the plight of various societal segments, including farmers, youth, students, and employees, who he claimed are increasingly disillusioned by the BJP’s policies. Bhalla underscored Congress’s historical commitment to social justice and economic equality, promising to intensify efforts to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and safeguard local jobs and land rights.

Bhalla expressed concern over the BJP’s perceived betrayal of the Jammu region, accusing the party of undermining the region’s dignity and compromising its pride. He challenged the BJP to list ten concrete initiatives taken for Jammu’s development during its tenure, suggesting that the party’s declining popularity was evident in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Bhalla anticipated a similar outcome in the forthcoming Assembly elections, predicting a victory for the INDIA Alliance, which includes Congress and NC.

Criticizing the BJP’s approach to addressing the grievances of various employee categories and the general public, Bhalla claimed the current government has failed to address issues related to employment, education, and social security. He expressed disappointment over the government’s inability to ensure a regular power supply despite the installation of smart meters, resulting in inflated electricity bills.

Bhalla urged voters to support Congress candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections, promising that the party will bring meaningful change, restore stability, and improve living conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. He assured that Congress remains committed to addressing the issues of marginalized communities and ensuring that its pro-people policies are effectively implemented.
