Leh, Sept 15: The Council Model School, Thugue Ldumra, Spituk, marked its Annual Parents’ Day 2024 with vibrant celebrations the other day, bringing together students, staff, parents, and community leaders in a festive and educational program.

Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, was the chief guest whereas Councillor Tundup Nurboo was the guest of honor. Other distinguished guests present on the occasion included Chief Education Officer Leh, Sonam Angchok; ZEO Leh Chamba Standar; Director LEHO, Mohd Deen; parents, teachers and villagers of Spituk. The function was organized in collaboration with SDMC members, Kunfan Deytsogs Spituk and School.

The day began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome speech by senior teacher Tsering Dorjay. He briefed about the development of the school and its function. Students then engaged in a yoga performance, which set a peaceful and focused tone for the day.

The program included a variety of performances by students from different classes. From traditional Ladakhi songs and dances to a modern fashion show by Nursery students, the cultural richness of the region was proudly displayed. Highlights included a Jabro dance by Class 2nd students and an engaging skit by Class 5th students. The audience was particularly charmed by a remix song and dance performance by UKG students, while the Ladakhi traditional dance by Class 3rd received loud applause.

The chief guest praised the performance of students and assured full support. The guest of honour also applauded the students and school. The CEO Leh commended the students and staff for their commitment to both academic and cultural excellence.

On the occasion, a prize distribution ceremony was also held. The chief guest, along with other distinguished guests, presented awards to students excelling in academics, painting competitions, and cleanliness. Their achievements were recognized and celebrated with much enthusiasm.

In a special segment of the event, the newly elected School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) members were formally welcomed with ceremonial scarves by Padma Shri Dr. Tsering Norbu. As a gesture of gratitude, the SMDC members also presented appreciation scarves to both teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedication and hard work.

The event concluded with a modern dance performance by Class 5th students and a vote of thanks by Lawang Tsering, SMDC chairman, leaving the audience inspired and proud of the students’ efforts.

This year’s Annual Parents’ Day successfully combined cultural heritage with modern expression, offering a memorable day for all attendees.
