First ever FLN-TLM Mela brings together 80 schools to innovate Bhoti and Arabic learning

Leh, Sept 15: The first-ever district-level Bhoti and Arabic Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Teaching-Learning Material (FLN-TLM) Mela was successfully organized at Eco Park, Leh, on September 13. The event aimed at enhancing teaching-learning methodologies and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 80 schools across the Leh district, including those from Zone Leh, Nyoma, Durbuk, Kharu, Khalsi, and Nubra.

The innovative initiative featured teachers from various schools showcasing creative and engaging educational materials tailored to improve foundational literacy and numeracy, particularly in the Bhoti and Arabic languages. The event provided an interactive platform for educators to present and discuss new teaching techniques, making the Mela a dynamic hub for learning and collaboration.

Hon’ble Deputy Chairman of LAHDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Hon’ble Councillor Phyang, Tundup Nurbu, attended as the Guest of Honour. In his address, the Deputy Chairman praised the efforts of the participating schools and applauded the enthusiasm and dedication displayed by the teachers. He stressed the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the quality of education and fostering creativity in teaching methodologies.

Prominent figures including President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Tsering Dorjey Lakruk, and a language wing team led by former Professor Ven Dadul also visited the stalls. They commended the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) for organizing the event and highlighting the significance of the Bhoti and Arabic languages in schools.

Among the event’s highlights were the awards presented to the top-performing schools in both Bhoti and Arabic categories. In the Bhoti category, Primary School Igu Langkor secured the first position, followed by Middle School Alchi in second place and Middle School Saspol in third. In the Arabic category, Middle School Farol Turtuk took the top spot, with Middle School Ranbirpur coming in second and Middle School Leh in third.

The Chief Guest congratulated the winning schools and all participants, acknowledging their dedication to improving the educational landscape in Leh district. He expressed satisfaction with the event’s arrangements and encouraged schools to continue such participatory learning endeavours to further enhance the quality of education.

The successful conclusion of the Bhoti and Arabic FLN-TLM Mela has set a high standard for future educational events in the district, inspiring schools to explore innovative avenues in teaching and learning.
