Kargil, Sept 11: In a proactive move to address critical issues concerning women’s safety and cybercrime, a special awareness program was organized by the Special Cell for Women Kargil, in collaboration with the Women Police Station Kargil, at Jaffaria Academy Modern Education School in Kurbathang, Kargil.

The event commenced with an introduction by the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Women Police Station, who highlighted the role and objectives of the Women Police Station. The SHO emphasized the importance of understanding and reporting cybercrimes, including common online threats and preventive measures.

Two prominent social workers from the Special Cell for Women—Khadim Hussain and Hassina Batool—were key speakers at the program. Khadim Hussain focused on educating students about “safe touch” versus “unsafe touch” and provided essential information on protective measures. His session aimed to empower students with knowledge about personal safety and boundaries.

Hassina Batool’s presentation tackled the broader spectrum of gender-based violence. Her discussion covered various forms of domestic violence, patriarchy, masculinity, and sexual harassment. She also shed light on the Special Cell’s work, detailing the services it offers and the impact of violence on women’s health. To complement her presentation, Batool showed a short film titled “Impossible Dream” by the UN, which addresses gender sensitization, along with another video called “Starts with Boys,” focusing on issues of stalking, domestic violence, and patriarchy in India.

The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing students to engage directly with the experts and seek clarity on various issues discussed during the session.

The initiative aimed to foster a deeper understanding among students about the challenges faced by women, enhance their awareness of cyber safety, and encourage them to actively participate in creating a safer community.
