Leh, Sept 05: The Zampa Market Association has appealed to the Union Territory Administration and relevant authorities, urging them to address the absence of public toilets in the bustling Zampa Market. The appeal was made by Fayaz Ul Rehman Giri, the President of the Zampa Market Association, who voiced the concerns on behalf of the entire market community.

In his statement, Giri highlighted the pressing need for public sanitation facilities, particularly during the tourist season when Zampa Market sees a significant influx of visitors. “Many tourists visit various attractions through our market, and the lack of public toilets leads to health issues and creates an embarrassing situation for both visitors and locals,” he noted.

The issue is particularly acute for female visitors who may face emergencies, leading to discomfort and inconvenience. The Zampa Market Association has expressed its concern that this lack of basic infrastructure could detract from the market’s appeal and hinder its role as a key point in the tourism circuit.

Giri, speaking on behalf of the market vendors and local residents, has made a “heartfelt request” to the concerned authorities and the Union Territory Administration to prioritize this issue. The association hopes that the administration will take swift action to install public toilets in Zampa Market, thereby enhancing the market’s facilities and improving the overall experience for tourists and locals alike.

The Zampa Market Association remains optimistic that their appeal will be heard and acted upon promptly, ensuring that basic amenities are provided for the welfare of both the public and the business community in Leh.
