Kargil, Sept 05: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Thursday paid a visit to Kargil Girls Hostel in Nowshera and Boys Hostel in Bemina, Srinagar, to assess the facilities and interacted with the students.

During the visit, students brought several issues to the notice of the CEC Akhoon including the need for repairs in bathrooms, rewiring of electrical systems and improvements to the hostel’s drainage infrastructure besides other concerns.

In response, Dr Jaffer Akhoon assured the students that these matters would be addressed at the earliest.

He assured that he will conduct a meeting with Executive Councillor for Education, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Superintendent Engineer, Public Works Department, Exen R&B, to discuss and implement the necessary improvements.

The Chief Executive Councillor also encouraged the students to excel in their studies and reiterated the Hill Council’s commitment to providing all possible support to ensure a conducive learning environment and ensured their welfare both within and outside the district.

The Chief Executive Councillor, it may be mentioned, is camping in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory currently.

On Wednesday, he had met Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, Atal Dulloo to discuss various issues concerning the students and people of Kargil.

During the meeting, Dr. Jaffer Akhoon had highlighted the challenges faced by students from Kargil for admission in various paramedical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in B.Sc. Nursing, diploma in nursing and other related courses.

Furthermore, the CEC had brought to the Chief Secretary’s attention the urgent need for a registrarship for postgraduate (PG) doctors of different fields in Jammu and Kashmir UT.

The CEC also raised various concerns of Kargil residing in various localities of Srinagar especially in Khumaini Chowk.

In response, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo had assured Dr. Jaffer Akhoon that he will take appropriate action in all the matters taken by the CEC.
