Leh, Sept 04: In a major step to enhance travel experience and safety for tourists and passengers, Ramandeep Singh Saini, the Director of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche (KBR) Airport, inaugurated a pre-paid taxi service at the airport today.

The newly launched service, initiated by the Ladakh Taxi Union, introduces a single-window operation for taxi bookings, offering a more organized and authorized transportation option. This initiative addresses the longstanding demand from both taxi drivers and passengers for a streamlined taxi booking system.

Speaking at the inauguration, Saini emphasized the importance of this service in improving the overall travel experience for visitors to Ladakh. “This facility is a significant step forward in ensuring that tourists no longer face difficulties in securing authorized taxis. The single-window operation will facilitate a hassle-free experience, allowing passengers to book taxis from a central point, thereby reducing the risk of encountering unauthorized operators,” he stated.

The new pre-paid taxi service is expected to bring much-needed order to the airport’s transportation system, offering passengers a safer and more cost-effective way to explore the region. It also benefits taxi operators by providing a structured environment in which to conduct their business without external interference.

With the introduction of this service, both passengers and taxi operators are expected to enjoy a smoother, more reliable transportation experience at KBR Airport, marking a positive step forward in Ladakh’s tourism infrastructure.
