Leh, Sept 03: To create an inclusive environment, the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) Leh, has announced the launch of a new scheme to provide accessible homes for persons with disabilities. The initiative, under the LAHDC-Kunsnyoms Scheme, aims to ensure comfortable and independent living for those with special needs.

The scheme will feature homes equipped with accessible facilities, including a kitchen, toilet, bedroom, and ramp, tailored to meet the unique needs of people with disabilities. Applications for the scheme will be accepted from September 3 to September 17, 2024.

Eligible individuals are encouraged to submit their applications along with the necessary documents to the District Social Welfare Office, located near the Polo Ground in Leh. The office is also providing assistance for the application process, ensuring that it is accessible to all.

A representative from the Social Welfare Office emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “This scheme is a step towards empowering individuals with disabilities by providing them with homes that cater to their needs, promoting independence and dignity.”

This initiative has been warmly welcomed by the community, with many praising the LAHDC’s efforts to create a more inclusive society in Ladakh.
