RS Pura, Sept 03: Congress Working President District Jammu Rural Badrinath Sharma urged the Congress Party High Command to give party mandate to only PoJK Refugee leader from RS Pura- Jammu South Assembly Constituency.

Addressing to the media persons, Sharma said that if the Congress Party gives mandate to a candidate other than PoJK Refugee, it will be a huge setback for party as PoK Refugees want Congress to give mandate to a PoJK Refugee who have a decisive vote share in this constituency.

Sharma highlighted that the RS Pura Assembly constituency had been reserved for over 26 years, however, with the recent delimitation; the seat has now been opened to the general category, where PoJK population is more than 42% and they have first right to be represented by a PoJK Refugees in J&K Legislative Assembly.

He pointed out that PoJK Refugee community forms a substantial part of the RS Pura-Jammu South demographic, with assembly elections being held after a decade-long hiatus in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sharma emphasized the need for Congress party to give mandate to PoJK Refugee only from RS Pura Jammu South constituency, who has remained politically disenfranchised for far too long. Sharma speaking on the occasion maintained that whatever decision Congress High Command takes in RS Pura Jammu South constituency will be respected and honoured but claimed that if a candidate from any other constituency is forced into this constituency, prospectus of Congress party winning this seat will definitely be blurred especially when BJP has given mandate to PoJK Refugee.

Sharma expressed confidence that JKPCC Office bearers and Party High Command will not discourage PoJK Refugees and will ensure party mandate to Refugee only from RS Pura Jammu South constituency. A large number of his supporters were also present during the press conference.
