Jammu, Sept 03: In a proactive measure to ensure security for the upcoming Assembly Elections, Shiv Kumar Sharma, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, visited the remote areas of Akhnoor and Chowkichoura on Monday. The visit included a crucial meeting to assess and enhance security arrangements in these regions.

The meeting was attended by key officials including the SP Rural Jammu, SDPO Akhnoor, SHO Akhnoor, and IC PP Chowki Choura of District Jammu. During the meeting, DIG Sharma emphasized the importance of bolstering security measures in light of recent terrorist activities. He urged the officers to maintain heightened vigilance, strengthen checkpoints (Nakas), and ensure thorough area surveillance.

DIG Sharma also interacted with the paramilitary forces deployed in the area, briefing them on their duties and motivating them to work in close cooperation with J&K Police. He took time to inspect the accommodation arrangements for the security personnel, addressing their concerns and promising to resolve issues promptly.

Highlighting the significance of security in ensuring a peaceful electoral process, the DIG directed the territorial officers to adhere to strict guidelines for the Assembly Elections. He reviewed the preparations at remote polling stations, specifically at the Government Higher Secondary School Chowki Choura, ensuring all aspects were thoroughly covered.

Engaging with the local community, DIG Sharma encouraged residents to report any suspicious or terrorist activities to the nearest police station. He reassured them of the full support and cooperation from J&K Police, emphasizing a collective effort towards maintaining peace and security in the lead-up to the elections.
