Nubra, Sept 03: In a gesture of appreciation, the Numberdaars (village headmen) from Nubra have extended their heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, former MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal (JTN), and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their pivotal role in granting district status to Ladakh.

This decision particularly benefits regions like Nubra, Zanskar, Sham, Changthang, and Drass. The recognition of these areas as districts marks a historic moment for the people of Ladakh, fostering hopes for accelerated development and greater autonomy.

The local leaders expressed that this move was a step towards addressing long-standing aspirations for better governance and infrastructure, which are crucial for the region’s growth and prosperity.

“We are immensely grateful for the tireless efforts of our leaders. This decision has brought us closer to the path of development and empowerment,” said a spokesperson for the Numberdaars. “The district status will not only bring administrative efficiency but also enhance the overall quality of life in our region.”

The Numberdaars also emphasized that this recognition will lead to more focused and region-specific governance, helping to address the unique challenges faced by these remote and strategic areas. They praised the central government’s dedication to the welfare of Ladakh, acknowledging that this move demonstrates a commitment to the region’s sustainable development.
