The sessions, which took place from August 28 to August 30, were held at three strategic locations: BVO Office Drass, Stock Assistant Training Institute Kurbathang, and BVO Sanko.
These training programs, organized in collaboration with the Regional Fodder Station of the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, and the Department of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairying based in Shuhama Alusteng, Ganderbal, Srinagar, aimed to provide farmers with the latest techniques in fodder cultivation, conservation, and utilization.
The sessions saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of local farmers, who were eager to adopt new methods to enhance their farming practices. Expert speakers delivered in-depth presentations on a range of topics including the selection of high-yielding fodder varieties, modern conservation techniques, and effective utilization strategies to ensure optimal livestock nutrition.
Special emphasis was placed on adapting fodder practices to the unique climatic conditions of Kargil. The experts discussed sustainable methods tailored to the region’s specific needs, highlighting innovative approaches to meeting the fodder requirements of local livestock.
The training was met with widespread appreciation from attendees, who expressed their gratitude for the valuable insights shared during the sessions. Additionally, high-yielding fodder seeds were distributed among the farmers to support their efforts in implementing the new techniques.
Dr. Gulzar Hussain expressed his thanks to the team of experts from the Regional Fodder Development Station, emphasizing the department’s dedication to the welfare of Kargil’s cattle rearers and dairy farming community. He underscored the importance of such initiatives for the development of the animal husbandry sector, particularly in enhancing sustainability and productivity in livestock farming.
The collaboration between the Animal Husbandry Department and the Regional Fodder Station signifies a joint commitment to improving the livelihoods of farmers by equipping them with essential knowledge and tools. This initiative is expected to yield significant positive outcomes for the region’s agricultural productivity and the overall well-being of its cattle rearers and dairy farming communities.
