Kargil, Aug 30: The Department of Surgery at District Hospital Kargil has achieved a significant milestone by being accredited for Post-Graduate DNB degree courses by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). He emphasized that this achievement positions the hospital as a premier institution for surgical education in the region.
Dr. Hussain, along with Dr. Mohd Abass, extended their gratitude to several key figures for their support in achieving this accreditation. They expressed their thanks to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra, Dr. Mohd Jaffar Akhone, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of Kargil, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Vasanthakumar Namasivayam, IAS Commissioner Secretary of Health, Deputy Commissioner/CEO Sh. The upgrades include the procurement of two advanced laparoscopic machines, laser equipment, and state-of-the-art surgical gadgets. The hospital now boasts two modular operation theatres, in addition to emergency operation theatres, enhancing its capacity to provide high-quality surgical care. Moreover, the hospital has established a cutting-edge surgical endoscopy unit equipped for interventions in cystoscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and upper gastrointestinal (UGI) endoscopy. The latest cold H2O2 plasma sterilizer systems have also been installed in the operation theatres, ensuring the highest standards of sterilization and patient safety.
In addition to these technological advancements, a modern library with the latest medical books and online journals has been established, alongside a surgical simulation room designed for the hands-on training of post-graduate students. Dr. Hussain reiterated his team’s commitment to providing top-tier education in surgery, patient care, and the latest surgical techniques.
Dr. Hussain also acknowledged the contributions of his colleagues, anesthetists, and the dedicated operation theatre staff at District Hospital Kargil.
