Leh 30 :- Today the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Leh organized an Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment at the Workplace at the Office of the Child Welfare Committee. The event was attended by key figures including Advocate Nema Stanzin, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Leh; Advocate Phuntsog Stobgayal, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel Leh; Mr. Mumtaz Hussain, Chairperson of the CWC; Mrs. Shela Khan, Member of the JJB; Mrs. Tashi Dolma, Member of the CWC; along with staff from the JJB, CWC, DLSA, and Paralegal Volunteers from DLSA Leh.
Advocate Nema Stanzin discussed the Victim Compensation scheme under the Criminal Justice System, providing guidance on self-protection at the workplace. Advocate Phuntsog Stobgayal elaborated on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act 2013, covering definitions, complaint mechanisms, and the role of the Internal Complaints Committee. He emphasized the importance of the POSH Act in protecting employees and the necessity for all institutions to implement strong preventive measures.
Mrs. Tashi Dolma highlighted the fruitful collaboration between the CWC and DLSA Leh, expressing optimism for continued joint initiatives in the future.
