Leh, Aug 28: Chairman/ CEC Tashi Gyalson today held a series of meetings that focused on local development issues and commitment to development and excellence in international sports representation.

In the first meeting, a delegation from Gya village, led by former Councillor Tsering Paldan, met with Tashi Gyalson, the Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh. The group, which included several village executing members, conveyed their deep appreciation for the ongoing developmental projects in their area. Their primary request was to include the Gya Meru Nallah in the Special Development Plan (SDP), stressing the need for continued channeling work on the protection band to safeguard the village from potential flooding and erosion. The delegation also brought up various other issues affecting their village, which CEC Gyalson assured would be addressed promptly. This meeting underscores the LAHDC Leh’s commitment to engaging with local communities and ensuring sustainable, inclusive growth in the region.

In a separate meeting, Diskit C Angmo and Tsewang Chuskit, two promising athletes from Ladakh, met with CEC Gyalson to express their gratitude for his support. The athletes recently represented Team India at the prestigious Hockey Together Camp 2024, an international ice hockey event organized by the Korean Ice Hockey Association (KIHA) and supported by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) program and the Pyeongchang Legacy Foundation. The camp, held from August 8 to 15, attracted 90 Korean U15 players, 38 Learn to Play participants, and 37 coaches from 22 Member National Associations (MNAs) of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

Angmo and Chuskit’s participation in this sixth edition of the camp was a significant milestone, not only for their personal development but also for the representation of Indian athletes on the global ice hockey stage. They credited CEC Gyalson’s generous funding as crucial to their successful participation and the valuable experience gained. The camp, known for fostering international unity and growth in ice hockey, concluded with a celebration of the achievements and contributions of all participants.
