JKLFC and NMDFC hold Loan Mela in Khaltsi
Leh, Aug 27: The Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Finance Corporation (JKLFC), in collaboration with the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), successfully held the 6th day of their Minority Loan Scheme Awareness Camp cum Loan Mela at the Community Hall in Khalsi, Leh district. This initiative aimed to increase awareness and provide access to minority loan schemes to the local community.
The event, which took place in the Khalsi Sub-Division, was presided over by Jigmet Namgail, District Incharge of JKLFC Leh and Kargil. Lobzang Shesrab, Councillor of Khalsi, LAHDC Leh, served as the Chief Guest. The gathering also included notable figures such as Naib Tehsildar Khalsi, Nambardar Khalsi, and the President of the Merchant Association, Khalsi.
Over 30 villagers, including youth and merchants, participated in the camp to learn about the Minority Loan Scheme and register for loans. In his address, Councillor Shesrab underscored the significance of these schemes in fostering economic growth and sustainable development within the community. He commended the organizers for their efforts and advocated for the continuation of such initiatives across Ladakh. Shesrab also highlighted recent updates from the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the inclusion of the Sham region as a new district, noting the potential benefits of establishing a JKLFC district office there.
Councillor Shesrab urged young entrepreneurs and unemployed youth to take advantage of the loan schemes offered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, which provide minimal interest loans to empower the minority community. He promised his support in addressing any challenges participants might face in accessing these schemes.
Local entrepreneur Jigmet Rangi suggested the establishment of a JKLFC extension counter in the area to further improve the implementation of these schemes beyond awareness camps.
The event commenced with a welcome speech by Jigmet Namgail, who detailed the various loan schemes available. He also addressed questions from the attendees during a Q&A session. The camp concluded with a vote of thanks by Namgail, who expressed his satisfaction with the event’s turnout and the active engagement of the participants.
