Kargil, Aug 21: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil today organized a legal awareness program focused on the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace. The event was held at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Kargil, drawing the participation of more than 300 students.
The program was led by Advocate Haji Murtaza, Panel Lawyer and Legal Aid Defense Counsel for Kargil, who was joined by Advocate Nissar Hussain, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel for Kargil, and the Incharge Principal of GHSS Kargil. The event was also attended by school staff members, DLSA staff, Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs), and the students of GHSS Kargil.
The session commenced with a welcome speech from Advocate Nissar Hussain, who set the tone for the day’s discussions. Following this, Advocate Haji Murtaza delivered an in-depth presentation on the topic of sexual harassment in the workplace, emphasizing the legal rights and protections available to victims under the law.
In his speech, Advocate Haji Murtaza provided a thorough explanation of the relevant legal framework and the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for women in workplaces. His talk aimed to raise awareness among the students about their rights and the steps they can take if faced with such situations in the future.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks from the Lecturer of Political Science at GHSS Kargil, who expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions to making the event a success. The lecturer highlighted the importance of such awareness programs in educating young minds and empowering them with the knowledge to protect their rights.
