Leh, Aug 19: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Jammu Bench is set to hold a Circuit Sitting in Leh on August 22 and 23, at the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre, District Court Complex, Melongthang.
This would be the second Circuit Sitting of CAT Jammu Bench at Ladakh and marks a significant event as CAT members, including Hon’ble Dr. Chhabilendra Rout, Member (A) from the Principal Bench in New Delhi, and Hon’ble Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Member (Judi.), will be visiting the region for the proceedings.
Pertinently, the first Circuit Sitting of CAT Jammu Bench was held on June 19 and 20 at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra and inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig (Dr.) BD Mishra (retd).
Meanwhile, in preparation for the important session, various departments have been coordinating efforts to ensure a smooth and efficient process. As per an order issued by Secretary, Department of Law & Justice, UT Ladakh, various departments have been directed to ensure timely and uninterrupted services during the conduct of proceedings of the CAT Circuit Bench at District Court Complex, Melongthnag.
The Power Development Department (PDD) Leh has been directed to provide uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the sitting. Backup generators will be on standby to address any potential power disruptions.
The Public Works Department (PWD) Leh has been asked to arrange necessary seating and furniture for the event, including chairs, tables, and other essential items. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Leh has been directed to oversee security measures to ensure the safety of the visiting CAT members and the integrity of the court proceedings.
Similarly, Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) is tasked to maintain a steady water supply at the ADR Centre. And, to support smooth virtual proceedings, the State Information Officer, NIC, will ensure all IT-related facilities, including internet connectivity, are operational. A team of NIC experts will be present to assist with any technical needs.
Also, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Leh will provide a medical team equipped with essential supplies to handle any health emergencies that may arise. Additionally, the Municipal Committee, Leh, will oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the venue, ensuring it remains spotless before, during, and after the sittings, the order stated.
