Dr. Jaffer led a meeting with NHPC to kick off Kargil’s green hydrogen mobility pilot project

Kargil :- Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today held a meeting with officers of NHPC to discuss the first ever pilot project in India for the Development of Green Hydrogen Mobility in the district.

The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor, Tourism, Kacho Mohd Feroz; Executive Councillor, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Mujtaba; Jitendar Kumar Head of Project (Chutak Power station); MD Suhel General Manager Civil; Animesh Anshu Group Senior Manager Civil; Sandeep Jassal Senior Manager Finance besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

The meeting held a detailed discussion about the provisions for the development of green hydrogen mobility projects in the district.

The concerned officer from NHPC informed the CEC that the land for the development of the project has been identified in Trespone village and was previously allotted to the Tourism Department.

The officer also informed the CEC that 35 kanals of land will be utilized for the project’s development. Additionally, he mentioned that the project will incorporate two hydrogen buses for mobility, with an estimated total cost of around 20 crores.

The concerned officer also informed the CEC that NHPC will take care of the project for 3 years and accordingly a report will be submitted to the Govt. of India for further extension.

CEC Kargil directed EC Aga Syed Mujtaba to consult with the local village representatives, gather their suggestions regarding the project’s development, and submit a report by Monday.

Dr Jaffer appreciated the CSR works being executed by NHPC in Kargil district and praised their commitment to the district’s development.

CEC Kargil also commended the new pilot project for the development of green hydrogen mobility in the district, stating that LAHDC and NHPC are committed to working collectively to ensure the project’s positive development in Kargil.
