Bandipora, July 26:- On 25th anniversary of Kargil War held in 1999, Indian Army along with Army Veterans, hundreds of citizens, students in the border villages of Gurez Valley today celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas and paid tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Kargil war.
Speaking with the media, Mohd Iqbal, an Ex-serviceman of the Indian Army said that he is aproud of serving the Indian Army and commended the efforts of Army in conducting such events.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas was also celeberated in PTL where hundreds of students and locals take part.
He also said that the Army plays an important role in maintaining peace in border villages and it is because of Army that they live with peace in these areas
“We will always remember our brave hearts who sacrificed their lives only on 26th July, because of them we are safe in our homes and living a peaceful life,” He said.
The ibid event was held at Army Goodwill School Dawar in which several groups of students performed in various events like skit, singing and drawing competition. A local musical group representing Shina Culture of locals also performed on this pious occasion. A two minutes silence was also observed in the memory of soldiers who sacrificed their lives to save our motherland during Kargil War. Apart from students, their parents and Army Officials, SDM Gurez, SDPO and other officials from civil administration were also present to grace the occasion and be part of this delightful celebration
“In these border areas we only live with peace when our Army remains 24*7 awake guarding our borders. We pay tribute to our soldiers who sacrificed their lives to save the country from enemies in the 1999 Kargil War,” another Ex service man of India Army Mohd Ramzan said.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony in which Army officials and officials from Civil Administration handed over certificates and prizes to prize winners of various competitions and performers who mesmerized the guests with their amazing performances
