Successful Conclusion of Ladakh Mega Health Camp by Tibetan Cancer Society and Rotary Eye Hospital

Leh, July 23: The Tibetan Cancer Society, led by Founder and Director Tsultrim Dorjee, in collaboration with the Rotary Eye Hospital Maranda, successfully conducted the Ladakh Mega Health Camp across various regions, benefitting local communities with essential medical services. This health camp, aimed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the local communities of Ladakh. Joined by 12 young nurses from different parts of the state and abroad, alongside Director Dr. Sudhir Salhotra, Mr. Raghav, General Manager, and Optometric Specialist Mr. Mukesh Ji from Rotary Eye Hospital Maranda Palampur Himachal Pradesh, the society made a significant impact.

Beginning on July 9th, health camps were held in Khaltse, Saspol, and Nimmoo of the Sham region. Services included blood pressure and random blood sugar testing, electrocardiograms (ECG), consultations with general physicians, ENT specialists, H-Pylori stool check-ups, and eye examinations. Similar efforts continued with a two-day health camp in Diskit, Nubra Valley.

The culmination of this initiative was a two-day mega health camp at Housing Colony in Leh on July 20th and 21st. This event featured specialized doctors—a gynecologist, ophthalmology surgeon, internal medicine expert, and gastroenterologist who provided advanced medical consultations and treatments to the local population.

Overall, the camps saw participation from 1200-1500 individuals who received treatment. Attendees also benefited from free general medicines and H-Pylori kits distributed onsite.

CEC Tashi Gyalson, expressing his appreciation, extended gratitude to the organizers and volunteers for their dedicated efforts in making the health camp a resounding success. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in improving healthcare access and raising awareness about critical health issues among the local population.

Looking ahead, there are plans to organize another Mega Health Camp next year, building on the success of this year’s initiative. The organizers remain committed to continuing their efforts in serving the healthcare needs of the people of Ladakh and further strengthening community health.
