Kargil 23 :- In a remarkable achievement, Stanzin Daechan from Pibiting village in Zanskar, Kargil, has been selected to represent India in the -57 kg category at the Asian Judo Championships 2024.
The international event is set to take place in South Korea this August. Daechan’s selection comes on the heels of her impressive performance at the All India National trials, where she secured the 1st position in the open selection trial.
Her selection marks a proud moment for Ladakh, particularly for the Zanskar region. Daechan, daughter of Stanzin Sonam and Paksang Dolma, has also qualified for other international judo events, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport despite if being from such a remote area of Kargil.
Syed Mehraj Ud Din, General Secretary of the District Kargil Olympic Association, congratulated to Stanzin Daechan and her parents for this outstanding accomplishment. He emphasized that such achievements by female athletes are bringing immense pride to Ladakh and inspiring the youth of the region.
As the countdown to the Asian Judo Championships begins, the entire community of Ladakh stands behind Stanzin Daechan, cheering for her success on the international stage.
