Kargil 22 :- In a significant move towards environmental conservation, Forest Division Kargil in collaboration with GDC Drass organized a plantation drive for mother “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.”
The event was graced by the presence of Mohd Ali, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Kargil, who served as the chief guest. The program commenced with a pledge ceremony, during which participants vowed to protect and preserve the environment.
Dr Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal GDC Drass, delivered a heartfelt welcome note, urging students to consider the environmental impact of their actions.
He lauded the Forest Department for their partnership with GDC Drass in making this event possible. Following the principal’s address, students shared insightful speeches on the crucial role of plantation in environmental protection.
They highlighted how planting trees can significantly contribute to a healthier and more sustainable environment. The highlight of the event was the address by the chief guest Mohd Ali.
In his detailed talk, Ali emphasized the primary objective of the plantation drive, shedding light on the fragility of Ladakh’s environment. He stressed the importance of replenishing the region’s glaciers, which are crucial for maintaining ecological balance.
Ali pointed out that combating the effects of global warming through increased plantation is vital for the region’s sustainability. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Sajjad Hussain, the event coordinator, who expressed gratitude to all participants and collaborators for making the event a success.
