Ladakh mulls sending docs for special training at AIIMS

Kargil, July 08: Underlining the need for special training for Ladakh’s doctors at AIIMS, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Monday said that the matter has been discussed with the LG of Ladakh and hoped for a positive action in this regard.

He was speaking after inaugurating a five-day multi super-speciality medical camp at Tourist Facilitation Centre in Kargil.

The camp is organized by LAHDC, Kargil, in collaboration with District Administration and Ashoka Mission. Doctors from AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital Delhi will be attending to patients at the District Hospital Kargil over the next five days.

In his address, the CEC commended the efforts of Ashoka Mission and paid tribute to the late Lama Lobzang for their outstanding contributions to the health sector.

“We are proud to host distinguished doctors from such prestigious institutions in Kargil,” Dr Jaffer said. He emphasised that serving humanity was a mission of Imam Hussain (A.S) and organizing the camp in this holy month aligns with that mission.

He also highlighted the need for special training for Ladakh’s doctors at AIIMS and mentioned that the matter has been discussed with the LG of Ladakh. He urged the visiting doctors to provide special attention to the people of Ladakh when they visit AIIMS.

Executive Councillor, Social Welfare, LAHDC, Kargil, Aga Syed Mujtaba, praised the dedication of the medical fraternity and expressed hope for more such camps in the future.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil extended his gratitude to all stakeholders involved in organizing the medical camp.

Earlier, a moment of silence was observed in memory of Lama Lobzang during the event. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Chief Medical Officer.

The inauguration was attended by Executive Councillor Social Welfare, Councillors from LAHDC, Kargil, former Cabinet Minister of J&K, doctors from AIIMS, Heads of Departments from District Administration and doctors from District Hospital Kargil.

Meanwhile, Akhoon also visited District Hospital Kargil to inquire the health of two young boys who met with an accident at Tangool. Councillor Panikhar, Abdul Hadi accompanied the CEC during the visit.

During his visit, the CEC inquired about the health condition of injured boys and assured that all necessary medicines would be provided free of cost by the hospital and assured full support during their treatment.

Dr Jaffer also inquired about the health conditions of other patients admitted in the hospital, emphasised the commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for all patients.
