Kargil, July 03: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon reviewed the progress of National Highway 301 in a meeting with Nirman Kishan Jambulkar, IES, Executive Director (Projects) of Ro-Ladakh, NHIDCL.
During the meeting, the ED (P) provided a detailed update on the ongoing work on NH 301.
CEC Akhoon focused on Sangrah Bridge, which is vulnerable to flash floods during the summer due to melting of glaciers, an official spokesperson said on Wednesday.
CEC emphasised to complete the construction of the bridge.
In response, the ED (P) assured that the contractor has been instructed to take necessary steps to address the issue .
The CEC stressed the importance of regular maintenance of the highway.
The ED (P) confirmed that construction work is progressing well and that bituminous layers will be applied at the appropriate stages.
Further, the point of discussion was the need to straighten the Galing Sangrah Bridge, considering technical parameters. The ED (P) mentioned that this might involve additional financial implications due to technical and land requirements, and the matter will be taken up with NHIDCL.
