Kargil, July 03: In a concerted effort to uplift the livelihoods of livestock breeders in the remote reaches of Rangdum village, Kargil district, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Gulzar Hussain, spearheaded a transformative initiative. This endeavor, marked by a comprehensive farmer’s awareness and aid camp, aimed to bolster the local economy and empower yak and cattle breeders in the area.

Under the guidance of Dr. Hussain, a dedicated team of veterinarians and para-veterinarians, led by Dr. Siraj U Din, I/c BVO Sanko/Taisuru, organized a day-long camp that saw enthusiastic participation from approximately 60 farmers. The focal points of the camp included enhancing awareness about essential Central Sponsored Schemes, such as the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) and the Kisan Credit Card (KCC).

The session also provided crucial insights into best practices for livestock management and the promotion of clean milk production. This educational outreach was complemented by practical assistance, including the distribution of 50 Quintals of cattle feed, 70 kilograms of mineral mixtures, and four sets of looms, all issued free of cost as promised by Director ASH & F during a recent visit to Kargil District.

Highlighting the commitment to farmers’ welfare, the camp facilitated on-the-spot identification and enrollment of over five beneficiaries for KCC loans, with further formalities slated for completion. Additionally, medical treatment was provided to two ailing bovine animals brought to the camp by local farmers, ensuring immediate relief and care.

Speaking on behalf of the local community, the Nambardar and progressive farmers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Animal Husbandry Department for their unwavering support. They emphasized the profound impact of such initiatives in fostering agricultural development and enhancing the economic resilience of farmers in remote areas like Rangdum.

Looking forward, the Animal Husbandry Department reaffirmed its dedication to advancing agricultural practices and fostering economic prosperity across Kargil district. Through continuous education, assistance, and support, initiatives like these are poised to catalyze sustainable growth and empowerment within the farming community, ensuring a brighter future for all stakeholders involved.
