Police Booked 2 Anti-National Activists Under PSA In J&K’s BandiporaJammu, June 27: R.S.Pura Police today claimed to have detained a notorious and hardcore criminal under the provisions of the Public Safety Act (PSA). Identified as Sunil Kumar alias Gokul, son of Tarseem Lal Bhagat and resident of Chak Aslam, Tehsil R.S.Pura, District Jammu, the accused has been implicated for his persistent involvement in organized criminal activities, posing a substantial threat to public peace and order.

The decision to invoke the PSA against Sunil Kumar was made due to his relentless continuation in criminal acts despite multiple legal interventions. According to police sources, Sunil Kumar remained undeterred by the numerous FIRs lodged against him and subsequent arrests in various cases. His unrestrained activities were deemed to have the potential to disrupt public order, especially in the regions of R.S.Pura and adjacent areas within Jammu District.

Confirming the detention, a police spokesperson stated, “The accused has been involved in more than twelve criminal cases, reflecting a pattern of behavior that endangers community safety.” Pursuant to the order No. 22/2024 dated May 6, 2024, issued by the District Magistrate Jammu under section 8 (1) (a) of the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) 1978, Sunil Kumar has been remanded to judicial custody.

Taking a firm stance against hardcore criminals like Sunil Kumar, the Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order. “Action against such elements remains a top priority for us. This proactive measure not only upholds the rule of law but also serves as a preventive step to safeguard public tranquility,” the spokesperson added.

The detention of Sunil Kumar under PSA underscores the authorities’ resolve to curb organized crime and ensure the safety of residents in Jammu District. Further legal proceedings are anticipated as the case progresses.
