Kargil: The SnowShoe Association of Ladakh, under the leadership of Nasir Hussain Zaidi, Organizing Secretary, flags off 9 players from Kargil, including 4 girls and 5 boys, to participate in the 8th National Snowshoe Championship 2024.
The championship will take place at the renowned tourist destination, Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
The players are set to compete with over 200 athletes from various States and Union Territories, showcasing the region’s talent and commitment to winter sports.
Speaking to the media, Nasir Zaidi highlighted that this championship doubles as a selection event for the International SnowShoe Championship scheduled in Dubai, UAE, slated for August-September 2024.
Expressing gratitude, Zaidi extended his thanks to LG Ladakh Brig BD Mishra and Secretary Sports Ravindera Dangi for their unwavering support. Their assistance has been pivotal, especially in facilitating the participation of international SnowShoe player from Ladakh, Sajjad Hussain, in the upcoming International SnowShoe Championship in Spain.
The association anticipates a successful representation of Ladakh at the national championship and beyond. This endeavour not only promotes winter sports in the region but also nurtures potential athletes for international competitions.
