Leh, Jan 20: Traffic Police Ladakh conducted a Road Safety awareness campaign and socio-economic schemes camp with Biker’s Union Ladakh today at Changspa, Leh.

Embarking on a crucial mission to enhance road safety, Traffic Wing of Ladakh Police, in collaboration with RTO Leh, Jammu Kashmir Bank, and United Insurance, orchestrated an impactful awareness session for Biker’s Association Leh.

Marking the initiation of Central Government’s Road Safety Awareness Month, that begins from January 15th to February 14th, the session delved into various road safety measures and central government schemes.

During the event, Senior Manager from Jammu Kashmir Bank Toldan and a representative from United India Insurance named Rinchen highlighted various central government initiatives and schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana.

As per the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana the beneficiary has to pay just ₹436 premium and avail a Life Insurance Cover of ₹2,00,000 for his/her family. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana a Zero-Balance Basic Saving deposit Account is created with a free inbuilt accident Insurance Cover of ₹2,00,000.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana the beneficiary has to pay just ₹20 premium and avail an Accidental Insurance Cover of ₹2,00,000 for Death/Permanent Disability and ₹1,00,000 for permanent partial disability.

Under the Atal Pension Yojana the beneficiary can avail a monthly Lifetime Pension ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 from the age of 60 with nominal contributions.

These schemes, characterized by minimal premiums, aim to mitigate financial burdens resulting from road accidents. In a remarkable outcome, 43 Biker Association members registered for these insurance schemes during the drive.

Superintendent of Police, Traffic, UT-Ladakh Mujeeb ur Rehman and DYSP Traffic, Leh Mohd Baqir shared crucial information on road safety measures to reduce accidents and fatalities. ARTO Leh, Mohammad Anzar contributed to the session by discussing mandatory vehicle documents and the correct procedures to obtain them.

The collaborative effort of Traffic Police Ladakh, RTO Leh, Jammu Kashmir Bank, and United Insurance underscores their commitment to promoting road safety awareness within the community.
