Jammu, Jan 02: As the fog has disrupted normal life across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces have chalked out a well knitted winter mechanism strategy to augment border surveillance with installation of special check posts along the International Border and the Line of Control to foil infiltration attempts from across the fence.
Official sources said that taking advantage of dense fog, terrorists make attempts to cross over on this side of the border but as usual, a well planned winter mechanism has been put in place to thwart all nefarious designs of the enemy.
“The security forces including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and other sister concern agencies have geared up to foil infiltration conspiracies from across the Line of Control,” sources said.
They added that to prevent infiltration, additional surveillance posts are being set up and patrolling is being increased in the areas adjacent to the Line of Control and the International Border.
“Surprise search operations have been intensified in the areas close to the forest belts to prevent anti-national elements and terrorists from taking shelter in the woods,” they added.
Sources revealed that the J&K Police and Army and the security forces have jointly prepared a roadmap to break the backbone of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, adding sources said, “The strategy to counter terror related activities will not only focus on neutralising the terrorists but also to break its backbone active in form of OGWs, supporters, funds suppliers, logistic supporters and all such connected directly or indirectly with anti-national activities.”
They said that emphasis has also been on improving coordination between the army and police for prompt exchange of necessary information and conducting joint anti-terrorist operations in a planned manner.
“Officers are directed to adopt zero tolerance towards terrorists and their supporters and all the security agencies have to exercise with utmost vigilance and additional alert to prevent infiltration along the International Border and the Line of Control,” they stated.
“Special surveillance will be maintained in areas considered sensitive from infiltration point of view while surprise cordon and search operation will also be carried out in the residential settlements nearby forests and hilly terrains,” sources said.
