Leh, Dec 21: A delegation of All Ladakh Transport Association (ALTA) under the leadership of Dorje Angchuk, Chairman ALTA and President Mazda Union called upon the Hon’ble Defence Minister Sh. Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.
The delegation accompanied by Hon’ble MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgail presented a representation highlighting the urgent need for the removal of the Vintage clause from the Civil Hired Transport (CHT) in the Ladakh region.
They emphasized the request to consider hiring transport based on fitness certificates issued by competent authorities such as Regional Transport Offices (RTO) and Assistant Regional Transport Offices (ARTO).
Hon’ble Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attentively listened to concerns raised by the delegation and assured them that he would examine the matter. Additionally, he committed to addressing the issue by corresponding with the relevant army authorities.
The prominent leaders in the delegation included Nawang Samstan, President – Truck Union, Tsewang Dorjey, President -Bus Union and Rinchen Tamphel, General Secretary ALTA/Taxi Union.
ALTA delegation expressed gratitude towards Hon’ble Defense Minister for patiently listening to their concerns amidst busy schedule and said that the Defense Minister’s intervention will lead to a positive resolution, benefiting the transport community in the Ladakh region.
