Srinagar, Dec 05: At least four persons, including three tourists, were killed and two others critically injured when a Sumo in which they were travelling fell into a deep gorge at Zojia Pass on Srinagar- Leh highway on Tuesday.
Officials said the accident took place at about 3.30 pm near Yaudoo Modh when the Sumo from Kargil towards Srinagar skidded off the road and fell into the deep gorge.
“Apparently the driver lost control in a sharp turn due to over speed and slippery road,” they said.
The injured were shifted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences for special treatment.
The tourists are believed to be from Kerala, the officials said.
The identity of the dead and injured are yet to be ascertained.
