Man Made waterfall worth Rs 2 cr coming up on River Tawi bridge; fountains installed

As a part of beautification programme under Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), a man made artificial waterfall worth Rs 2 crores is coming up on River Tawi bridge for which fountains are being installed along the boundaries.
A senior official in the JSCL said that amidst various efforts to woo tourists in the City of Temples, an artificial waterfall is coming up in the River Tawi by the executing agency Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL).

“The waterfall will be built at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore and it will be the first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The official added that a fountain has been installed along the boundary wall of the bridge on the river and it is expected that soon people will be able to enjoy and be attracted to it.
“The waterfall along with Tawi River Front and Artificial Lake will add to the beauty of the city while the water of river Tawi will be lifted in the waterfall which will appear as splash to the viewers,” they said.
Apart from both the bridges of Tawi, the official said that the waterfall will be sighted and attract everyone passing by all the bridges and flyovers, he said adding, “the length of the waterfall is 100 feet and it is coming up at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore.”
Colorful lights will be installed in the middle of the waterfall and it will not only add beauty to the smart city project but will also attract tourists.
Notably, the foundation stone of Tawi River Front Project was laid by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on February 12 last year.
Rs 194.7 crore will be spent on this. Shri Balaji Engineering Company of Delhi will complete this work in two phases while Rs 156.38 crore will be spent in the first phase.
“On River Tawi Front, Rs 74 crore work will be completed on the left side of Tawi river and Rs 81 crore work will be done on the right side whereas the entire area of the project is 353 kanals,” he added.
He said that the area on the right side is 179 kanals, 47.39 kanals on its left while the central island is spread over 126.14 kanals and work is going on in full swing on both the banks of Tawi.
