Leh, Oct. 18: The Principal Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Sanjeev Khirwar, along with other dignitaries, pledged their support to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, in celebrating the Khadi Mohatsav from October 2, 2023, to October 31, 2023.

In a notable event held at the Civil Secretariat in Leh, the Director of the Industries & Commerce Department, UT Ladakh, Nazir Sheikh, the State Director of KVIC, Jammu, Dr. Kuldeep Verma, the Director of KVIC, Bangalore, Vijay Shreedhar, and the Deputy Director of KVIC, Bangalore, Senthal Ramaswamy, collectively undertook the pledge to commemorate the Khadi Mohatsav.
The Khadi Mohatsav, a month-long celebration, aims to promote the rich heritage and cultural significance of Khadi and village industries across the nation. Khadi, a symbol of self-sustainability and empowerment, has been an integral part of India’s history and continues to play a vital role in fostering rural development and livelihoods.
Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar, during the event, expressed his commitment to supporting Khadi and village industries in the Union Territory of Ladakh, emphasizing the importance of promoting indigenous products and rural entrepreneurship. The participation of such esteemed officials in the pledge event signifies the significance of this initiative in the region and highlights UT Ladakh’s dedication to the cause of Khadi and village industries, he added.
