Leh, Oct 03: The second edition of The Himalayan Film Festival, 2023 concluded at the SSK Auditorium, Leh Tuesday.
The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson presided over the closing ceremony as the chief guest whereas, Principal Secretary to the Administration, Sanjeev Khirwar was the guest of honour.
Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, Executive Councillors Stanzin Chosphel & Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Councillors of LAHDC Leh, Commissioner/Secretary Information, Padma Angmo, Commissioner/Secretary Tourism, Mehboob Ali Kacho, renowned Film Critic, Anupama Chopra, star Bollywood Actor Jaideep Ahlawat, Director Avinash Arun Dhaware, various other distinguished guests and a large number of audience were present during the closing ceremony.
During the event, the winners of the short film competition were felicitated followed by felicitation of jury members, other filmmakers, and the members of the Film & Television Federation of Ladakh.
Addressing the gathering, CEC Tashi Gyalson congratulated the entire team led by Secy Padma Angmo for making the 2nd edition of The Himalayan Film Festival a grand success this year. He emphasised the significance of this Film Festival in promoting the rich heritage and diverse culture of Ladakh in particular and the entire Himalayan region at large.
He added that such platforms have been able to fulfil the aspirations of young and creative minds from different parts of Ladakh post formation of Ladakh as a Union Territory.
The CEC highlighted the film festival’s role in fostering cultural exchanges and nurturing local talents through this platform. He encouraged filmmakers and storytellers to continue exploring the unique narratives of Ladakh. He further hoped that the Himalayan Film Festival would continue to grow and evolve, becoming a good platform for expression of art and culture especially for local talents. He further shared his vision to promote Ladakh as a sustainable film destination in future.
In her address, Comm/Secy Padma Angmo expressed her gratitude to the entire team of the Himalayan Film Festival and appreciated their collective effort in making this edition a remarkable success. She also thanked all the collaborators including renowned faces and industry experts from the Bollywood, local film industry (Film & Television Federation of Ladakh), and all the filmmakers from the Himalayan states for adding more color to the film festival by sharing their valuable insights during master classes, film screening and all the other activities during the 5-day long film festival in Leh.
She further expressed her gratitude to LAHDC Leh led by its Chairman and the District Administration, Leh for their constant support in successfully conducting the second edition of the Himalayan Film Festival in Leh. Furthermore, she hoped for the continued growth of the festival with a vision to make it even more prominent in the days to come.
The event concluded with the note of thanks from the AD Information, Leh and a colourful cultural performances.
