Leh, Oct 01: The personnel of 24th Bn of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) today carried out a massive cleanliness drive in collaboration with Rural Development Department (RDD) Leh under “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti at Chuchot area.
The ITBP personnel took up the cleanliness drive on the banks of Sindhu River and cleaned the entire stretch. The local Sarpanch, Mohd Gulam Abbas along with his team also extended support to the ITBP personnel. People of the area appreciated the efforts of ITBP in making their surroundings clean and pledged not to litter garbage.
The other day, the personnel of 24th Bn of ITBP led by Deputy Commandant Jajati Kumar Behara carried out a massive cleanliness drive in Sakti Village, which is said to be the largest village in Asia. The villagers also extended their cooperation during the drive.
On the occasion, awareness was created among the students of the local school regarding maintenance of hygienic environment and cleanliness.
A similar campaign was held near Pangong Lake where the personnel of 24th Bn of ITBP removed the garbage from the shores of the lake.
