Ladakh came together to participate in the mega cleanliness and dedicate one hour to cleanliness on October 1, after Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi initiated a unique clarion call of ‘Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ under the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.

Under the Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath campaign mega cleanliness drive across ladakh marked the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

In a programme organised at the main city Leh, Govt. officials of several department took active participation in the cleanliness drive and collected littered garbage at the city lanes.

Similarly, as a part of the Swachta Pakhwada campaign, NSS Unit EJM College Leh conducted a cleanliness drive on the campus under the theme Swachta Hi Sewa.

Around 300 students and staff took part in the cleanliness drive whereas 15 dustbins donated by J&K Bank under Corporate Social Responsibility were distributed to classrooms, Hall and Cafeteria.

However, in a remarkable display of community spirit and dedication to cleanliness, a successful cleanliness drive was conducted in subdivision Liker, under the supervision of SDM Liker, Dr. Sarwar Shahzad, on the occasion of ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta ek Saath’ under the campaign of Swachhata Hi Seva .


The event saw enthusiastic participation from various segments of the community, including doctors and staff from PHC Saspol, high school and middle school teachers and staff, as well as Sarpanch and Panches of Liker and Nambardar Liker.

One of the main highlights of the cleanliness drive was the extensive cleaning of Liker Highway and the picturesque Spang/Spring area in Liker.

The participants worked tirelessly to remove litter and debris, transforming these areas into cleaner, more inviting spaces for residents and tourists alike.

Dr. Sarwar Shahzad, the SDM of Liker, expressed his gratitude towards all the participants, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the region.

The participation of PHC Saspol doctors and staff underscored the importance of health and cleanliness, with healthcare professionals setting an example for the community. High school and middle school teachers and staff not only taught the importance of cleanliness but also actively participated in the drive, instilling valuable values in the younger generation.

In addition, Panchayat Secretary Liker and the staff from the Rural Development Department played a pivotal role in coordinating the entire event, showcasing the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders.

Similarly, Department of Social & Tribal Welfare UT Ladakh observed a one hour cleanliness drive on at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra Leh.

The Director Social Welfare Tashi Dolma together with the staff members cleaned the premise where The Himalayan Film festival (THFF) is also being held and carried out a pledge to devote 100 hours per year to do voluntary work for cleanliness.

At Stakna, A cleanliness drive was carried out under the Swachh Bharat Mission ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ at Stakna 2nd Anganwadi Centre.

The aim is to achieve universal sanitation hygiene and open defecation free India.

During the drive, Sonam Nilza, CDPO Kharu, supervisor, clerk, workers, helpers, parents of beneficiaries and villagers participated in the cleanliness drive.

At Nubra Sub Division, Staff and officials of the government departments in collaboration with the 102 Brigade, organised ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ cleanliness drive.

Enthusiastic volunteers, residents, and military personnel joined to promote cleanliness and environmental stewardship. The event emphasized long-term commitment to cleanliness and included litter cleanup and waste awareness campaigns.

Similarly, a mega cleanliness drive under ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ was carried out at Hemya Anganwadi Centre.

CDPO, Supervisor, Doctor, staff of medical department, AWW, AWH, Sarpanch, villagers participated in the cleanliness drive.

Similarly, a cleanliness drive was also successfully conducted at block headquarters Nyoma.

Staffs of all departments and army personnel and villagers participated in the mega cleanliness drive.

Similarly, Several departments including Soil Conservation, Industries & Commerce, PHE under the ‘Ek Tareekh- Ek Ghanta campaign’ carried out a cleanliness drive at various locations in and around Leh.

At SNM Hospital, All doctors and paramedics enthusiastically participated in the cleanliness drive “Swacchata Hi Seva” campaign as per the Swachh Bharat Pakhwada programme.

The drive was preceded by Swacchata Pledge & Pledge to segregate ceremony by all staff.

Similarly, with an aim to achieve universal sanitation, hygiene, and an open defecation-free India under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Swachhta He Sewa cleanliness drive was carried out at Stakna 2nd Anganwadi Centre. Sonam Nilza, CDPO Kharu, Supervisor, clerks, Anganwadi workers, helpers, parents of beneficiaries, villagers participated in the cleanliness drive.
