Kargil, Sept 25: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department and Tourism Department, Kargil on Sunday jointly conducted a cleanliness drive at Spanglung Sapi Kargil which is the base station for the two-day trek to Pangbar Barso Nallah, Sankoo.
Assistant Director, Tourism Aga Syed Toha, Panchayat Secretary, Mohd Ali, Sarpanch Sapi besides other officials of RD&PRD, Tourism, villagers and youth volunteers, actively participated in the drive.
Special focus was laid on the cleanliness of water bodies and removal of waste from different places.
On the occasion, AD Tourism appealed people to maintain cleanliness around their surroundings. He informed about various interventions in achieving the goals of Swachhta Pakhwada with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhta.
He said under Swachhta Pakhwada, the cleanliness drive was conducted successfully with the support of RD&PRD.
Around 30 volunteers took part in the drive and the aim of which was maintaining cleanliness at tourist destinations across the district.
Later, the Sarpanch Sapi, thanked the RD&PRD, Tourism and other departments for conducting the cleanliness drive and urged to organize such drives in future as well.
In the end, AD Tourism appreciated the local residents of Sapi especially the people of Spanglung for taking part in the cleanliness drive and keeping their village garbage-free.
