Kargil, Sept 23: Department of Physical Education and Sports, GDC Drass today conducted the annual road race drawing participants and spectators from the college community and beyond.
The road race exemplifies the college’s commitment to promote physical fitness and fostering a sense of community.
The two-kilometer single category was open to both male and female students of the college. The annual road race witnessed an impressive turnout of participants, students from the college.
Around 45 female and 21 male students participated. The enthusiasm and energy of the participants added to the event’s vibrancy. The race route took participants through the breathtakingly beautiful landscape of Drass, showcasing the natural beauty of the region.
The Principal and the staff members actively supported the event by cheering on the runners and volunteering as course marshals.
Medals and certificates were awarded to the top performers from both male and female participants by the Principal of the college. This recognition served as an incentive for participants to give their best.
In male category, Mohd Shakir emerged as the top performer and Irfan Qadri and Basharat Ali got the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Likewise, in female category Zulikha Banoo, got the 1st position and Anjum Ara and Archo Kulsuma got the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Convenor of the college’s sports committee Mohd Yassin and coordinator Assistant Professor Manzoor Hussain extended their gratitude to all participants, volunteers and staff members for their support in making the event a memorable one.
