Kargil, Sept 22: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Kargil today organized a cleanliness drive in Pashkum Block of Kargil. The drive was organized under Swachhata Pakhwada campaign under Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation to promote the concept of cleanliness in the country.
District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Kargil, Padma Angmo, BDO Pashkum Ghulam Rasool, Panchayat Instructor Ali Akbar, Sarpanch Pashkum B, Issa Ali Shah, Panchs, RD&PRD officials, and locals including women participated in the cleanliness drive.
On the occasion, the combined effort of all the stakeholders resulted in clearance of roads, streets, house vicinities and other surrounding areas from large amount of solid waste. The collected waste was disposed of in an eco-friendly way.
During the cleanliness drive, Sarpanch, Issa Ali sensitized the residents about their responsibilities in maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings in their areas. He said if any person found polluting the environment will be punished and fined.
Earlier, the DPO Kargil, Padma Angmo informed the villagers about the importance of cleanliness. She talked about Swachhata Pakhwada and its aim to aware people about their responsibilities and prioritize towards cleanliness in their surroundings.
DPO in the presence of other officials and locals of Pashkum also took pledge of Swachhata Pakhwada.
